Microdermabrasion and Beautiful Skin

Microdermabrasion1A healthy, flawless complexion is a universal beauty standard, but for a lot of us, it is elusive. In our youth, we deal with clogged pores, skin texture issues, uneven pigmentation and acne scars. As we age, we accumulate laugh lines, fine wrinkles, age spots and sun damage. Even naturally smooth skin is besieged and compromised by the assaults of modern life—pollution, fatigue and even skin products or fads that ultimately undermine rather than enhance your skin’s health and appearance.

Is there a safe, simple and effective way to counteract the ravages of time, genetics and modern life and make your skin glow with health? We think there is: microdermabrasion.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a simple but precise cosmetic treatment during which damaged surface skin is lightly sanded away to reveal the healthy skin underneath. (Microdermabrasion is not the same as exfoliation, which manually or chemically removes accumulated dead cells from the surface of your skin but leaves the underlying skin intact.) Your esthetician uses a small tool to lightly spray your skin with fine crystals and to vacuum up the used crystals and old surface skin at the same time. Some microdermabrasion units will then spray or infuse a skin-enhancing solution into your skin’s new surface, which has heightened absorption properties.

What Should I Expect During Microdermabrasion Treatment?

A microdermabrasion treatment will last about an hour. You will be aware of a mild scratching as your technician removes the outer skin cells. and a vibrating sensation that is like a light massage. You will also feel gentle suction as the tool lifts off dead skin and used crystals. But any discomfort during the procedure is generally short-lived. Afterwards, you may experience some redness and swelling, but these reactions normally subside within a few hours. For the next few days, your skin will be dry and flaky as it heals.

What Results Can I Expect from Microdermabrasion?

You will see improvements in your skin’s appearance right away, including a reduction in fine lines, uneven surfaces and hyperpigmentation. Wrinkles, age spots, blackheads, large pores and acne scars will diminish with repeated treatments.

How Often Should I Schedule a Microdermabrasion Treatment?

To some extent, that depends on your skin type and your long-term goals. We recommend that you schedule regular treatments in accordance with your skin’s condition. You will see continuous improvement in the health and appearance of your most important beauty asset.

Microdermabrasion is a safe, affordable and highly effective cosmetic procedure to restore your complexion’s smoothness and remedy a host of skin problems. Call us for a consultation!
